Odisha Auto Driver Returns ₹5 Lakh Worth Valuables Left Behind By Passenger

Bhadrak: In a commendable act of honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver in Odisha’s Bhadrak returned valuables, including gold ornaments, worth approximately Rs 5 lakh that were forgotten by a woman passenger in his vehicle. The driver, named Inayat Khan’s act of kindness has earned him praise from various quarters.

The incident occurred when a woman boarded Inayat’s auto on Thursday, headed for Jamjhad. Unfortunately, she forgot her bag in the vehicle upon reaching her destination. Inayat, upon discovering the belongings, took the initiative to trace the woman, visiting Jhamjhadi and Talanagar in an attempt to find her.

Despite his efforts, Inayat couldn’t locate the woman. Consequently, he handed over the bag, containing gold ornaments and articles worth nearly Rs 5 lakh, to the Bhadrak Police Station. The news gained widespread attention on social media, leading the woman, Subhasmita Lenka, to learn about the situation and claim her bag at the police station. Impressed by Inayat’s honesty, Lenka expressed her gratitude.

Bhadrak City DSP Anshuman Dwivedy commended Inayat’s integrity, stating that the driver exhibited remarkable honesty by returning the valuables to the woman. He emphasized this as a significant example for others to follow, highlighting the importance of honesty in such situations.
