Cyclonic Circulation Likely Over Bay of Bengal on Sep 3, Odisha Braces for Heavy Downpour

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has issued a weather update, predicting the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the North Bay of Bengal around September 3, 2023. This system is expected to lead to the formation of a low-pressure area in the following 48 hours.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon trough at sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Bay of Bengal and its vicinity persists, extending up to 4.5 km above sea level, tilting southwestward with altitude.

However, the cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra Pradesh coast, has weakened and become less pronounced. Another trough line extends from the centre of the cyclonic circulation in the Northeast Bay of Bengal to South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
