BMC Fines Agencies ₹50,000 for Unauthorized ‘To-Let’ Posters Across Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has levied fines of Rs 50,000 each on three agencies for displaying ‘To-Let’ posters on city walls.

BMC, through its official X handle (formerly Twitter), stated, “Penalties of Rs 50,000(each) & FIRs filed against these 3 agencies for affixing massive (To-let) posters across the city walls, poles, etc.”

Sources reveal that fraudsters misused such posters to deceive people, extracting money after providing accommodation. This practice not only tarnishes the city’s aesthetics but also poses a threat to residents. BMC aims to curb this by imposing fines and filing FIRs.

The civic body has urged citizens to refrain from putting ‘To-Let’ posters on city walls and poles to maintain the city’s beauty and prevent fraudulent activities.
