CMC Corporators Withdraw Protest After Commissioner’s Assurance

Cuttack: After holding a whole night protest, several agitators including Cuttack Municipal Corporation corporators withdrew their protest on Tuesday.

According to reports, agitators withdrew the dharna after CMC Commissioner & Mayor assured them of intervening in the matter.

Corporators of opposition parties BJP and Congress staged a night-long protest outside the CMC office demanding the transfer of the chief executive engineer. They also demanded the withdrawal of a bill that was passed in their absence.

Mayor Subas Singh and Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim tried to converse with them but they refused to stop the protest because CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pawan Kalyan did not come to them.

Corporators of the Opposition BJP and Congress created a ruckus during the 8th Council Meeting of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) over various issues yesterday.

They also expressed strong displeasure over the activities of a certain executive engineer and demanded his immediate transfer.

The corporators sat on a night-long demonstration protest outside the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) office to protest against alleged “officer raj”.
