Cops Cannot Use Mobile Inside Srimandir: Puri SP

Puri: Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh on Friday informed that Home Guards, OSAP jawans, and other police personnel deployed at Shri Jagannath Temple are barred from carrying and using mobile phones while on duty.

“The administration has decided that home guards, Jagannath Temple Police (JTP), and Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) personnel will not be allowed to carry smartphones into the premises of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri even during duty hours,” said, SP Singh.

The decision was taken after pictures of Lord Jagannath inside the sanctum sanctorum recently went viral on social media platforms.

However, senior police officials deployed for particular purposes and emergency services have been exempted, the Puri SP clarified.

Earlier since January 1, 2018 servitors of the temple have been barred from carrying smartphones inside the temple premises.
