Evaluation of Odisha Civil Service Exam Hit by Shortage of Home Science Faculties

Bhubaneswar: The shortage of faculty members to evaluate answer scripts in Home Science has raised concerns among Odisha Civil Service aspirants, as the fear of delayed results looms.

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) requested the Rama Devi Women’s University to spare three faculty members to complete the valuation of the OAS (Main) written examination. However, the university authorities declined the request, citing several reasons such as staff shortages, visits of NAAC teams and ongoing valuation of Plus III papers.

The OPSC had requested the faculty members from Rama Devi Women’s University due to the availability of only a few universities with Home Science discipline. The university has eight faculty members in the said discipline and 955 candidates have appeared in OAS (Main) Examination with Home Science as a subject. In response to the letter, the Department of Higher Education requested the University authorities to spare three faculty members for the valuation process.

The inability of universities and colleges to share faculty members for the evaluation process has left aspirants worried. The shortage of staff has raised concerns among the aspirants regarding the timely release of results.
