Commissionerate Police Bans DJ Music for Ganesh Puja in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has prohibited the use of DJ music during Ganesh Puja celebrations in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. This decision was announced following discussions with the respective Ganesh Puja committees.

The police have also issued stern warnings against forceful donation collection and any irregularities in idol-making. Puja committees have also been instructed to maintain vigilance against liquor and drug consumption during immersion ceremonies.

Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda announced the ban, stating that Ganesh Puja will be held on September 7 in Cuttack, with immersions scheduled for September 15, 22, and 29. All processions require prior police permission.

In Bhubaneswar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh informed that immersions will take place on September 8, 11, and 12. Similar restrictions on DJ music and liquor consumption apply, and strict action will be taken against those who forcibly collect donations.

The Commissionerate Police will deploy additional security personnel to manage traffic and maintain CCTV surveillance to deter anti-social elements.

While the ban aims to ensure a peaceful festival, DJ music owners have expressed concerns about its impact on their livelihoods. Babuli Sahu, owner of Maa Singhabahini DJ, acknowledged the decision but highlighted the potential job losses due to the ban.
