Kandhamal: Married Woman Kidnapped & Gangraped!

G. Udayagiri: A married woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two criminals from the G. Udayagiri area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district, on October 9.

The victim’s husband, a government worker, filed an FIR with the G. Udayagiri police over this.

The incident has been the subject of a police investigation since a case (No. 139/22) was filed under Sections 376 (1) and 307 of the IPC. According to sources, they also sent the woman for a medical exam.

The 42-year-old woman, according to sources, had gone to observe a cultural event being organised at Laxmi Puja close to Kalinga Ghat on October 9.

The woman was kidnapped by two bike-borne miscreants while she was riding home from the cultural event.

According to sources, the criminals kidnapped the woman and dumped her close to a temple in Bediguba.

The woman was in a critical state when she was rescued by the 108 ambulance workers, who then hurried her to a local primary health facility. According to authorities, the victim—who was a psychiatric patient—was later transferred to the Kandhamal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
