Kansa Apologizes Lord Jagannath For Sins Committed During Dhanu Yatra

Puri: With the 11-day long open-air theatre Dhanu Yatra in Bargarh coming to an end Friday, Hrushikesh Bhoi, who played king Kansa’s character, reached Puri Saturday to seek forgiveness from Lord Jagannath for all the sins he had committed during the festival.

After reaching Puri, Bhoi called on Govardhan Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Nlschalananda Saraswati to seek his blessings and regretted insulting the Lords while acting in the play.

Subsequently, the actor took a holy dip in the sea and then had a darshan of Lord Jagannath at Srimandir and supplicated for forgiveness.

Several other artists who acted as his courtiers during the play also accompanied Bhoi to Puri.

Hrushikesh Bhoi played the character of Kansa in Dhanu Yatra, the biggest open air festival in the world which was held from December 28, 2022 to January 06, 2023 in Bargarh district of Western Odisha.

The theatrical performance is the story of lord Krishna including his birth and childhood leelas. During the Yatra, Bargarh and nearby places turned into Mathura and other places in Lord Krishna stories.
