Over 100 Metal Cobra Idols Discovered At Mahanadi Ghat In Odisha’s Banki on Maha Shivratri

Cuttack: On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, a remarkable discovery unfolded at Mahanadi river’s Subarnapur ghat in Banki, Cuttack district, Odisha. Over 100 metal idols of cobras were stumbled upon by children bathing in the river. Sensing the presence of these idols as they touched their legs, locals swiftly enlisted the help of fishermen to recover them from the water.

Some of these idols are believed to be ancient, adding to the intrigue of the find. They were promptly relocated to the local panchayat office, where a gathering of curious locals ensued. Women were observed performing rituals, pouring milk on the idols, and offering prayers on this auspicious day.

As word spread, officials from the local administration arrived, prompting villagers to advocate for the idols’ relocation to a nearby mutt for safekeeping. The origin of these intriguing artefacts remains a mystery, awaiting further investigation.
