Man Arrested For Selling Wife’s Kidney In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The police have arrested a person from Kotameta village in Malkangiri tahsil on charges of selling off his wife’s kidney.

The accused has been identified as Prashant Kundu. Police took action as the victim, Ranjita had filed a complaint on this matter after experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen.

The couple married 12 years ago and have two children. Ranjita alleged that four years back in 2018, Prashant took Ranjita to Bhubaneswar for treatment and got her admitted to a private hospital, where she had undergone surgery.

Subsequently, She came to know about her missing kidney recently after she visited a doctor following abdominal pain.

Prasant had her kidney removed without her knowledge when she was admitted to a private hospital after being “diagnosed with kidney stone”, the complaint stated.

He allegedly sold the kidney to a person named Asim Haldar of MV 38 village in Malkangiri district. According to Ranjita, Prasant left for Andhra Pradesh eight months ago for work and returned to Malkangiri on August 27 with a second wife.
