Metro in Odisha: DMRC Seeks Comprehensive Mobility Plan From Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has requested a thorough report from the Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (ORIDL) as yet another step towards the realisation of the Metro train service from the Bhubaneswar airport to Trishulia Square.

The DMRC asked for secondary data in a letter dated April 18, 2013, including the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) of Bhubaneswar, future development plans, and land use plans for the city, all databases from the CMP, including passenger origin-destination matrices, a map of the city’s wards and information on each one’s population, a map of the city bus route with stops against the backdrop of the city’s road network, and the average daily number of origin-destination and data from the ORIDL on Bhubaneswar’s previous 10 years of mode wise registered vehicle counts and stop-by-stop boarding and alighting statistics.

The DMRC stated in the letter that the information is necessary for the creation of a detailed project report (DPR) for an elevated rail corridor connecting Trishulia Square in Bhubaneswar to the airport.

However, according to the information at hand, Bhubaneswar’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) is not currently in the possession of the Urban Development Department. As a result, it is known that the Bhubaneswar Development Authority report will be provided.
