Naba Das Murder Probe: Gopal Das’ Remand Extended By 4 Days

Jharsuguda: A local court on Saturday allowed police to take accused Gopal Das, the accused in Minister Naba Das murder case, in remand for 4 more days.

The JMFC cognizance court in Jharsuguda today allowed police to take Das on remand for four more days as the Crime Branch had sought the permission of the court to take Gopal Das on remand for nine more days.

Notably, the accused ASI had opened fire on the Health Minister during an event at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on January 29. The minister succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a private hospital here on the same day.

The accused police ASI was detained soon after the incident. Acting upon the direction of the Chief Minister, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police took over the probe and produced the accused in court after arresting him in connection with the incident.

The court had earlier allowed the Crime Branch to take the accused on a four-day remand for interrogation. The remand period ended today.
