Naveen Patnaik Accuses BJP of Misleading Odisha with ‘False Promises’

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly misleading the people of Odisha with unfulfilled promises.

Speaking at Sankha Bhavan to district presidents and state-level leaders of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Patnaik targeted the BJP’s schemes, including the Subhadra Yojana and the 300-unit free electricity promise, accusing them of deceiving voters.

Patnaik pointed out that BJP leaders from across India made grand promises during the last election, but the ground reality remains unchanged. He specifically mentioned the Subhadra Yojana stating, “BJP said it would give Rs 50,000 in 2 years. Now it is 5 years, which means Rs 5000 in 6 months. Besides, all women are not covered under the scheme.”

He warned the state government against betraying the trust of Odisha’s educated and vigilant women, urging BJD workers to expose the BJP’s alleged falsehoods in every household. Additionally, Patnaik expressed concern over the rising crime against women, stressing the need for strong support and courage for women facing such challenges.

Patnaik concluded by highlighting the potential reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, calling for greater female participation in the BJD’s membership drive and promising to assign more responsibilities to women within the party.
