Father and Stepmother Arrested for Abusing Children in Odisha’s Athagarh

Athagarh: A woman in Athagarh was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly abusing her stepchildren. The children’s biological mother filed a complaint with the police, and a case has been registered against the couple under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 342, 294, 323, 325, 307, 506, and 34.

The children were reportedly subjected to severe abuse in the absence of their biological mother. The stepmother has admitted to brutally beating them for eating some biscuits.

The children, while sharing their ordeal, revealed that their father and stepmother would physically harm them almost daily. They described being hit with objects like a rolling pin and even an iron spatula. The girl, who sustained serious injuries, was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment, while the boy exhibited multiple assault injuries, including a blood clot in his eye and injury marks on his private parts.

The couple has been arrested and is currently under investigation.
