Only pharmacist can tell the exact drug

Bhubaneswar: World Pharmacist Day has been celebrated on the campus of Sai Saburi Health Science College in Balkhati. The chairman of the institution, Dr. Sarada Mishra, and the faculty members gave a detailed presentation to the students about the role of the pharmacist in the field of patient care.

Dr. Mishra said pharmacists have to shoulder the biggest responsibility in hospitals.

Pharmacists have to do a lot of work, especially for outpatients, such as drug selection, dosage preparation, store management, route selection for drug use, and full monitoring of side effects. Similarly, pharmacists do very important work such as providing full support to the doctor during surgery and inpatient management, delivering the right medicine to the patient’s bedside, making and maintaining oxygen gas, and explaining the use of medicine to the patient and relatives at the time of discharge.

The most important thing is that doctors prescribe many medicines to patients with kidney, tuberculosis, liver, etc. The cooperation of pharmacists is very important for the proper use of medicines for these patients. Apart from this, a pharmacist can easily identify genuine and fake medicines by looking at the quality level. Students from various departments of the college participated in the said event.
