Opposition Unites In Rebuking BJD’s New Splashy Office Building

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress lashed out at the state-ruling BJD over its posh new office block “Sankha Bhawan,” which was inaugurated today, raising the political fervour in the state by several notches.

“It seems to me that Chief Minister Naveen Babu and his party’s identities are morphing over time. The CM’s reputation for leading a simple life has been destroyed by this enormous party office, claimed Purohit.

Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray, remarked, “The money from business houses has gone into it. A total of Rs110 crore has been spent on this building. It will even beat a hotel in luxury.

BJD Vice President Prasanna Acharya defended his party by stating, “When the Opposition doesn’t have any significant problems to discuss, they will raise such frivolous issues. There are numerous concerns in regard to Odisha’s growth. I’d want to ask that they focus on such matters.

The BJD’s opulent office block was officially inaugurated earlier in the day by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The “Sankha Bhawan,” a three-story structure with a vast parking lot in the basement that can hold more than 40 cars at once, is situated in the Unit-6 area of the capital city. The structure is located on 1.18 acres of land.

A massive conch (the party’s electoral symbol) that can be seen from the street is designed on the first floor.  An open conference room and an exhibit detailing Biju Patnaik’s travel exploits are also located on the first floor.

On the second floor, there is a 250-seat auditorium that is on par with any movie theatre. Additionally, the party’s IT Cell and Research Wing are located on this floor. The private chamber and conference rooms for the party president are located on the top floor.
