OSSC Teacher Recruitment 2022: BEd Students Seek Relaxation In Exam Criteria

Bhubaneswar: In order to provide everyone with a fair chance to compete in the exam that will be the “largest recruitment drive of 7,540 regular government school teachers,” the final-year students of several teacher training institutions in Odisha have demanded the state government to relax the criteria.

Sources claim that on Monday, the students submitted a memorandum regarding this to the secretary of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) and the Director of Secondary Education (DSE).

The state government has requested the OSSC to begin the recruitment process for 7,540 regular high school teachers in order to guarantee a high standard of education. The commission specified in its recruitment ad that applicants must meet the required qualifications for the position by the deadline for online application submission (January 9, 2023).

The recruitment process will be carried out in three phases (preliminary exam, mains, and document verification). According to the final-year BEd and BHEd students from ten teacher training institutions, including IGNOU and those associated with Ravenshaw and Berhampur universities, they would finish their course and be able to provide final certificates by the time of the document verification phase.

They urged the government to include a “passed/appearing” option on the recruiting application form so that they can also sit for this recruitment exam.

Earlier, the Higher Education Department had urged all universities, colleges, and teacher education colleges to complete UG/PG final exams by July 31 and publish the results by August 15.

While several institutions have finished their examinations, they are yet to publish the results.
