Teacher on His Way to Attend BBSR Protest Dies in Accident

Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and six others were seriously injured when the passenger bus in which they were traveling hit a marble slab loaded truck from the backside in Nayagarh district of Odisha on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Amar Chand from Junagarh area of Kalahandi district. This primary teacher was tarvelling to Bhubaneswar to participate in the continuing agitation of teachers.

The accident took place near Itamati at a distance of around six kilometers from Nayagarh town. The injured were shifted to Nayagarh District Headquarter Hospital (DHH). Later two in critical condition were transported to Bhubaneswar for treatment.

Itamati Police seized both the bus and the truck involved in the accident.

Primary school teachers of government schools are continuing demonstrations in Bhubaneswar demanding fulfillment of several demands that include the abolition of contractual appointments and salary at par with the central government-appointed teachers. The deceased teacher from Junagarh was on his way to take part in this protest demonstration of teachers.
