School Student Drowns in Mahanadi During Picnic

Sonepur: Tragedy unfolded during a picnic at Birmaharajpur in the Subarnapur district today when a student drowned while taking bath in the Mahanadi river.

The deceased was a student of Adarsh Siksha Niketan.

As per reports, the school had planned a picnic on the banks of the Mahanadi river. Later, the victim drowned while taking a dip in the river.

The parents of the deceased child blamed the school authorities for not being vigilant over the children and slammed them for allowing the students to take baths in the river.

However, the student was quickly rescued and rushed to the Birmaharajpur Sub-division Hospital (SDH), where she was declared brought dead by the doctors.

The untimely passing of the students has left the family members in a state of sorrow.
