Snake Rescuer Critical After Cobra Bite in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A snake rescuer in Balasore, Odisha, is in critical condition after being bitten by a cobra on Wednesday. The incident occurred early in the morning when Bikram Jena, an official from the Jaleswar block, spotted a cobra in his living quarters.

Snake rescuer Shankar Chand was called to the scene to assist in safely rescuing the cobra. However, during the rescue attempt, the snake bit Chand while he was in the process of putting it in a containment bag.

Chand was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment, but his condition continued to deteriorate. He was subsequently transferred to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he remains in critical condition.
