Puri: A terrorist attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, claimed the lives of over 40 members of the CRPF in 2019. Sudarsan Pattnaik, an Odisha-based sand artist, paid tribute to the jawans killed in the attack by making a sand sculpture as a special gesture.
Pattnaik posted a photo of the sculpture on Twitter. “Tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama!! #NeverForgetNeverForgive” he captioned the photo. Two kids can be seen in the image putting flowers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti as a sign of respect. The sand art also features a soldier’s helmet and an inverted bayonet. “Salutes Our Martyrs Of Pulwama Attack,” Pattnaik inscribed beneath the sculpture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the CRPF personnel. He tweeted, “Remembering our valorous heroes who we lost on this day in Pulwama. We will never forget their supreme sacrifice. Their courage motivates us to build a strong and developed India.”

A suicide bomber who drove into the CRPF convoy did so in order to murder as many police officers as possible. Masood Azhar, the leader of the Bahawalpur-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror organisation in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the assault. In reaction, the Indian Air Force struck the terrorist bases in Balakot, Pakistan. Up to 12 Mirage 2000 aircraft were used for the mission, and terror bases in Pakistan were “completely destroyed” as a result of the bombings.
