Two-Day Bandh In Paikmal of Bargarh District

Paikmal: Normal life was stalled in Paikmal of Bargarh district from today morning because of a 48-hour bandh call. Milita Kriyanusthan Committee (joint action committee) of Paikmal has given this bandh call for three demands.

The demands include the declaration of Paikmal Primary Health Centre (PHC) as Comunity Health Centre (CHC), Notified Area Council (NAC) status for Paikmal, and district status to Padampur sub-division. Yesterday BJD chief Naveen Patnaik gave assurance to make Padampur a district by December 31, 2023.

This bandh coincides with the ongoing campaigning for Padampur byelection. Paikmal comes under this assembly constituency.

Shops, markets, and financial institutions as well as schools and colleges remained closed in Paikmal because of this bandh. In some places, agitators burnt tyres to highlight their demands.
