Youth Injured In Catapult Attack By Suspended Police Constable In Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: A youth sustained critical injuries after allegedly being attacked by a suspended police constable in the Khadiapada area under Kolabira police station in Jharsuguda district on Wednesday.

The suspended cop, identified as Iswar Mahananda. He was initially posted at OSAP sixth battalion in Cuttack and was suspended a year ago for his unruly behaviour.

According to reports, Iswar allegedly attacked the youth with a catapult and fled the spot. Subsequently, the youth sustained grievous injuries in the attack.

The youth was first admitted to Kolabira Hospital and later shifted to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after his health condition deteriorated.

Though the exact reason behind the attack is not known, it is suspected to be the fallout of a land dispute.
