Congress Releases 3rd List Of 57 Candidates For Lok Sabha Polls

New Delhi: The Congress party released its third list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, adding 57 candidates to the roster. Key highlights include Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury contesting from Berhampore, Mallikarjun Kharge’s son-in-law Radhakrishna standing in Gulbarga, and Praniti Shinde, daughter of former Union minister Sushilkumar Shinde, vying for the Solapur seat.

Notably, the Congress has allocated the Sikar constituency in Rajasthan to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). This latest announcement brings the total number of declared Congress candidates to 138.

The third list features candidates for various states: two in Arunachal Pradesh, 11 in Gujarat, 17 in Karnataka, seven in Maharashtra, five in Rajasthan, five in Telangana, eight in West Bengal, and one in Puducherry.

Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki will contest from Arunachal West. In Gujarat, notable candidates include Sonal Patel, Prabhaben Taviyad, and Nilesh Kumbani. In Karnataka, Priyanka Jarkiholi, Vinod Asooti, and Mansoor Ali Khan are among the contenders.

Of significant interest is the rerun of the contest between Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and cricketer-turned-politician Yusuf Pathan in West Bengal’s Berhampore constituency. Additionally, Isha Khan Choudhury, son of incumbent MP Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury, will contest from Maldaha Dakshin.

Previously, the Congress had announced 82 candidates across two lists for the multi-phase Lok Sabha polls commencing on April 19.
