BAN vs IND, 3rd ODI: Blistering Ishan Breaks Record For Fastest Double Century In ODI Cricket

Chattogram: Pocket-dynamo Ishan Kishan smashed a brisk double hundred in India’s third One-Day International match against Bangladesh at Chattogram. After skipper Rohit Sharma sustained an injury and had to be replaced for the final game of the series, Kishan threw caution to the breeze and smashed 23 boundaries and 9 sixes in just 126 deliveries to reach the 200-run milestone. Ishan got to his century in just 85 balls.

In 50-over cricket, Chris Gayle had held the world record for the fastest double hundred, which was broken by Kishan today. At the 2015 ICC World Cup, Gayle smashed a double hundred in just 138 balls to reach his double hundred against Zimbabwe. Kishan broke the record by a whopping 12 deliveries and also made history by becoming the youngest cricketer to score 200 runs in an ODI.

He has now joined Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma as the fourth Indian to score a double century in an ODI. Rohit now holds three scores of 200 or above. Ishan is now the seventh player in ODI history to score a double-century.

Martin Guptill of New Zealand, Chris Gayle of the West Indies, and Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan are the other players besides the Indians.

At the end of his innings, Kishan was out for 210 runs after hitting 24 boundaries and 10 sixes.
