Preview: India Take On New Zealand In The First ODI

Wellington: India will take on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series which will commence on 25 November 2022. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Men in Blue in the three-match rubber.

Super King Deepak Chahar is a part of the Indian squad for the ODI series. Ahead of the first ODI, Dhawan said that India will enter this series with an eye on the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“This preparation is all about the World Cup. The young boys have been performing quite well. We have a very good idea about who’s going to get into the World Cup squad,” said Dhawan in the pre-match press conference.

Dhawan also added that India will look to play good cricket and win the ODI series against the Black Caps.

“We are looking to play good cricket and win the series. It’s good exposure for young boys to come and play in New Zealand. Test their skills and character in different conditions. It’s a good opportunity for us to show our skills,” he added.

The Black Caps will be led by Kane Williamson. Super Kings Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway are a part of the Kiwi squad for the ODI series.

Ahead of the first ODI, Kane Williamson said: “There have not been a huge amount of ODIs, it was mostly T20Is, with some Tests. It is about settling down and getting a nice understanding. There is a change in the environment. These are a few factors. But it is about keeping it nice and simple. There is a lot of ODI cricket to come,” said Williamson.
