IPL 2024: RCB Officially Change Name To Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Unveil New Logo

Bengaluru: In a significant move ahead of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore officially adopted the city’s local name – Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The announcement came during the RCB Unbox event at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where the team unveiled its new logo. The event was graced by skipper Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and women’s team captain Smriti Mandhana.

Notably, Mandhana led the RCB women’s team to victory in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, securing the franchise’s first-ever title by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final. The men’s team, comprising stars like Du Plessis, Kohli, and others, paid tribute to the women’s team by giving them a guard of honour.

During the celebration, Mandhana and her team took a victory lap around the stadium, cheered on by enthusiastic fans. In a touching moment, Mandhana was on a video call with star all-rounder Ellyse Perry during the lap.

The victory lap culminated in a photo session where the RCB women’s team proudly posed with the WPL trophy. Their triumph was a result of a well-rounded performance, with Sophie Molineux and Shreyanka Patil’s spin bowling proving crucial in restricting Delhi Capitals to a modest total of 113.

Looking ahead, the RCB men’s team is geared up to replicate the success of the women’s team, boasting a blend of talent, youth, and experience. Notably, Kohli is set to return to action after missing recent matches due to injury.
