Mumbai: In the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will square off against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

With KKR holding the second spot in the points table with 12 points from six wins out of nine games, and MI striving to revive their campaign, the match promises to be a high-stakes affair.

Shreyas Iyer-led KKR aim to secure a playoff berth. However, the absence of Rinku Singh from India’s T20 World Cup squad has sparked discussions about his limited game time, highlighting the intense competition within the KKR lineup.

On the other hand, MI, despite the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah have struggled due to batting woes. Players like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are eager to find form ahead of the T20 World Cup.

In head-to-head encounters, MI have dominated KKR, winning 23 out of 32 matches. The Wankhede Stadium pitch, known for favouring batsmen, is expected to witness an intense battle with an average first innings score of 170.

In a recent match at this venue, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a challenging total of 206/4 against MI, who managed 186/6 in reply, falling short by 20 runs.
