Second Liver Transplant Done at SCB Medical College and Hospital

Cuttack: The SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack achieved a milestone by successfully conducting its second liver transplant surgery on Monday.

In this recent liver transplant process, 39-year-old Manas Muduli from Nayagarh received a portion of liver donated by his wife, Chhabi Mallik.

The complex surgical procedure was conducted by an expert team of doctors, including Professor Dr Balachandran Menon from AIG Hyderabad, alongside local experts Professor Dr Rajesh Kumar Dora, Professor Dr Promod Kumar Palai, Associate Professor Dr Laxmi Narayan Mohanty, and Professor Dr Kaumudi Patnaik from SCB Medical College.

The liver transplant surgery of around 10 hours started at 8 am and concluded at 6 pm. Conditions of both the donor and recipient are currently stable. They are under close observation in the ICU.

It is the second liver transplant at the SCB Medical College and Hospital. The first liver transplant at this medical college hospital was done on April 3, 2024.
