Paradip: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) in Odisha has surpassed the 50 MMT (Million Metric Tonnes) mark in cargo throughput within the first four months of the current fiscal year, FY 24-25, setting a new record for the port.
This milestone was reached 8 days ahead of last year’s pace, marking an impressive 5.16% growth over the same period last fiscal, according to an official release on Thursday.
The port’s significant contributors include coal, which has reached 23.11 MMT, showing a 6.72% increase from the previous year. Iron ore and pellets have also seen a substantial rise, hitting 9 MMT and demonstrating a 20.74% growth. Additionally, container cargo has surged by 85.07%.
PPA Chairman P L Haranadh attributed this success to the team’s dedication and strategic planning, expressing confidence that the port will exceed the current fiscal year’s 150 MMT cargo throughput target.
