Terrorism In J&K Will Be ‘Buried Deep’, Article 370 A Thing Of The Past: Amit Shah

Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday assured that the BJP-led central government will eradicate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir so thoroughly that it will never reemerge. Addressing an election rally in Padder-Nagseni, Kishtwar district, on the final day of campaigning, Shah emphasized that Article 370 is history and will not be reinstated in India’s constitution.

Shah pledged to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, a region with a history of sacrifices due to terrorism since 1990, that the current administration will permanently eliminate terrorism. He warned against attempts to revive terrorism akin to the 1990s.

Paying tribute to victims of terror, including BJP leaders Anil Parihar, Ajit Parihar and RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, Shah slammed the National Conference and Congress for allegedly promising to release terrorists if they form a government. He assured that terrorism will not be tolerated under PM Modi’s leadership.

The Home Minister highlighted the BJP government’s efforts to strengthen village defence guards and Special Police Officers by upgrading their weapons from old .303 rifles to modern self-loading rifles. He stressed that the security measures being implemented will ensure that any terrorists attempting to enter will be dealt with decisively by the Army and police.

This visit marked Shah’s second trip to Jammu in two weeks. Earlier, during his September 6-7 visit, he released the BJP’s manifesto for the J&K assembly elections and addressed a party convention.

With the election campaign concluding, Shah urged voters to support BJP candidates. He condemned the opposition’s stance on potentially restoring Article 370 and warned that BJP’s reservation policies for Paharis and Gujjars would be at risk under the NC-Congress alliance.

Shah reaffirmed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Article 370 has been irrevocably removed from India’s constitution. He criticised the NC and Congress for their historical failures and stressed that the BJP will uphold a single constitution, prime minister and flag for India.

Targeting Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah, Shah accused them of inconsistent statements and predicted their defeat in the upcoming elections. He also praised the BJP’s efforts in fostering youth leadership through Panchayati Raj elections and promised continued development of the region, including the enhancement of the Machail Mata shrine.
