OSSC Aspirants Continue Protests in Cuttack Demanding RI, Amin Re-examination

Cuttack: Following significant protests by Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) aspirants in Bhubaneswar demanding the cancellation and re-examination of the Revenue Inspector (RI) and Amin exams, demonstrators took to the streets in Cuttack on Thursday.

The protests stem from allegations of irregularities in the exam process, allegedly conducted by a “blacklisted” organisation.

To creatively express their dissatisfaction, protesters are fashioning paper boats from their admit cards and releasing them into the Kathajodi River near the Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT).

The aspirants are calling for the immediate removal of the implicated organization from overseeing the examinations, alongside demands for re-examinations.

“Job appointments have turned into a business, jeopardizing students’ futures by allowing a blacklisted company to manage exam duties. We are using our admit cards to create paper boats and floating them in the Kathajodi River to highlight the government’s negligence towards the aspirants’ futures. We demand an immediate re-examination; otherwise, lakhs of students will join our protests,” warned one aspirant.

Another aspirant expressed frustration, stating, “The Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell was supposed to address citizens’ concerns. Yet, despite our repeated complaints about the exams over the last 10 days, the government has taken no action.”

Additionally, one applicant mentioned, “The commitment made by the Higher Education Minister has not been fulfilled, prompting this protest. Although a seven-member student committee was invited to discuss our concerns, we were assured that prompt actions would be taken. However, after 72 hours, no necessary steps have been implemented.”
