12 IEDs Seized from Maoist Camp Unearthed in Boudh District

Boudh: A dozen Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and other items were seized from a Maoist camp during a two-day-long search and combing operation in Nalikumpha forest under Manamunda police limits in Boudh district.

Informing newsmen, Boudh SP Raj Prasad said a team of Special Operation Group (SOG) had launched this search and combing operation on Wednesday.

On Thursday, an encounter took place, when Maoists opened fire and hurled bombs at the security personnel. Maoists preferred to escape after around 20-25 minutes of gun fight. The naxalites fired around 200 rounds, while security personnel fired at least 80 rounds. The militants hurled bombs at the security personnel.

Following this incident, the combing operation in the area led to the recovery of 12 IEDs and a huge quantity of articles used by the Maoists from a deserted Maoist camp. According to reports, around 30-40 Maoists were there in this camp. They were members of the KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division of the outlawed CPI(Maoist) organisation.
