STF Seizes Live Pangolin in Angul, Wildlife Smuggler Arrested

Angul: Personnel of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested a wildlife smuggler in Angul district on Friday and rescued a live pangolin from his possession.

According to a release of the STF, they received reliable information that the wildlife smuggler, identified as Ajit Bagh of Tampara under Pallahada police station of Angul district was planning to sell a live pangolin.

The STF personnel along with forest officials of the Deogarh Forest range raided Ranja square on Banarpal-Pallahada National Highway 149, where Ajit was waiting for a customer to sell the pangolin. The live pangolin was seized from Ajit’s possession, and he was arrested.

The rescued pangolin was handed over to the forest department.

On December 9, STF had arrested two wildlife smugglers and rescued a live pangolin from them in Rayagada district.
