15 Including 7 Children Die as Tractor-Trolley Transporting Pilgrims Plunges Into Pond in UP

Lucknow: At least 15 people including seven children died and several others were injured when a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims plunged into a pond in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj.

These pilgrims were travelling to the River Ganga to take a holy dip on the occasion of ‘Magh Purnima’ when the accident occurred.

Locals rushed to the spot of the accident and carried out rescue operations. The injured were admitted to hospitals.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh each for the family of those who have died, and ₹ 50,000 each for the injured. He directed local authorities to immediately rush to the spot and expedite rescue and relief efforts. He also instructed for proper medical treatment for the injured.
