Srinagar: Three Bangladeshi tourists were charred to death in the devastating fire accident at the Dal Lake in Srinagar on Saturday. Several houseboats were gutted in this fire.
Police and fire services authorities recovered three charred bodies of Bangladeshi tourists from the burnt-down houseboats at the lake.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near ghat number nine. The victims were identified as Kowshal Anindya, Mohammed Moinuddin Chowdhary and Imon Dasgupta. They had reached Srinagar from Chandigarh on Friday.
The cause of the fire, which destroyed five houseboats and an equal number of attached huts, remains unknown.
The fire started from one of the houseboats, maybe due to a short circuit at around 5:15 am on Saturday. It engulfed 5-8 houseboats and huts.
