4 Women Killed, 24 Injured as Truck Hits Tractor-Trolley in UP

Lucknow: Four women lost their lives and 20 persons were injured when a truck hit a tractor-trolley in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri on Saturday.

The accident happened around 4 am near Fardpur village.

The speeding truck hit the tractor-trolley with around 35 people including 25 women onboard. They were returning from a child’s ‘namkaran’ ceremony in Beldhara village.

According to police sources, when they reached Fardpur village, the headlight of the tractor developed some problems. The vehicle was parked on the roadside for repair of the headlight when a speeding truck hit the tractor-trolley.

Twenty injured people were admitted to the district hospital and four others, including three women, were rushed to Safai hospital in critical condition.

The locals nabbed the truck driver and handed him over to the local police.
