Prabodh Tirkey Quits Congress Over Ticket Denial

Bhubaneswar: Prabodh Tirkey, ex-captain of the Indian hockey team and a contender for the Congress ticket in the Talsara Assembly constituency has resigned from the party.

Tirkey submitted his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress, addressing it to Sarat Pattanayak, the President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee.

In his resignation letter, Tirkey expressed a sense of disillusionment, citing feeling marginalized by recent decisions within the Congress. Notably, Tirkey had joined the Indian National Congress in Odisha and entered the political arena on September 4th of the previous year.

Initially slated as the Congress candidate for the Talsara-ST Assembly constituency, Tirkey was later replaced by Devendra Bhitaria instead.
