6 BJP MLAs Including LoP Subhendu Adhikari Suspended from Bengal Assembly

Kolkata: Six BJP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, were suspended from the West Bengal assembly on Monday.

These Bengal MLAs were suspended for the remaining part of the current Assembly session of the West Bengal Assembly or 30 days, whichever is earlier, after they staged protests in the House over the unrest in Sandeshkhali.

The suspended MLAs include Subhendu Adhikari, Agnimitra Paul, Mihir Goswami, Bankim Ghosh, Tapasi Mondal and Shankar Ghosh.

On Monday, from the beginning of the question hour, BJP MLAs shouted slogans against the Trinamool Congress government for the unrest in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district. They sat on the floor of the House, raising slogans.

Speaker Biman Banerjee then allowed Trinamool Congress MLA Sobhandeb Chatterjee to move a motion for the suspension of the BJP legislators. Following this, the BJP MLAs were suspended by the Speaker.
