Film on Sandeshkhali Declared, To Release in 2025

Mumbai: While Sandeshkhali, the West Bengal village is hitting the headlines because of the revelations of alleged atrocities on women by the now-arrested TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh, a film on the issue has been declared.

This yet-untitled film was declared on International Women’s Day. It is scheduled for release in 2025. Saurabh Tewari will direct this proposed movie.

Presented by Parin Multimedia, this proposed movie, whose cast is being finalised, has been written by Amitabh Singh and Ishan Bajpai.

A hastily made teaser video doing rounds on social media shows the film’s tagline: “A true story of war against abuse, fear and suppression.”

The teaser does not show any actor in the movie. Words such as vote bank, demographic war, rape, killings, child abuse, land encroachment and kidnapping appear on the video, along with an image of the hands of protesting women.

Another tagline that line that appears in the video is “A cry for justice echoing from the land of Sandeshkhali.”
