7 Students of Govt Engineering College in Berhampur Rusticated for Cooking Beef in Hostel

Berhampur: Seven students of the government managed Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC) in Berhampur of Ganjam district were rusticated on Sunday for alleged nuisance on the campus.

Based on a complaint lodged by a social outfit with the Gopalpur Police, the authorities of the PMEC reportedly rusticated the offenders.

In the police complaint, it was alleged that one of the accused students had cooked and ate beef on the campus on September 11. He had also served it to some other students, which led to tension on the campus.

Following the disciplinary action against the offenders, one platoon police force has been deployed in the College and hostels to check escalation of tension.
