Ajit Pawar’s NCP Grabs Finance & 6 Key Departments in Maharashtra Cabinet

Mumbai: Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction took over key portfolios like finance and six other departments in the Maharashtra Cabinet expansion.

According to sources, the MLAs of Ajit Pawar faction included in the ministry led by Eknath Shinde secured finance and planning, food and civil supplies, cooperatives, women and child development, agriculture, relief and rehabilitation, and medical education departments, reported India Today.

Ajit Pawar, who is the Deputy Chief Minister, confirmed that the list of portfolio distribution has been sent to the Governor for approval.

On July 2, Ajit Pawar and eight NCP MLAs took oath as ministers in the Maharashtra government.

This led to a split in the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. It is to be seen whether allocation of portfolios leads to any tremors in the ruling Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition or not.
