Sharad Pawar Receives “Death Threat” on Social Media

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, Sharad Pawar received a “death threat” on social media, the NCP leaders alleged on Friday. Mumbai police have taken the matter seriously and are to register an FIR to start an investigation.

Following this death threat reportedly received through a social media platform, a team of NCP activists led by Sharad Pawar’s daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule met Mumbai police chief Vivek Phansalkar urging for action.

The NCP leaders told the police that 82-year-old Pawar received a message on Facebook that read “he will meet the same fate as (Narendra) Dabholkar soon”. Sule submitted printouts of the screenshots of the death threat to the police.

Noted rationalist Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead during his morning walk in Pune on August 20, 2013.

Mumbai police is in the process of registering an FIR in this connection at South Region Cyber police station.
