Armed Dacoits Injure Elderly Lady, Loot Rs 19 Lakh Worth Cash, Jewellery From Her in Balasore

Balasore: Unidentified armed dacoits attacked and injured an aged woman to loot Rs 7 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh from a house at Juani village under Bahanaga block of Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday night.

The elderly woman Shantilata Gupta was all alone at her house when the dacoits entered the house by scaling the boundary wall. Her son had gone to Balasore Railway Station to receive his wife.

The armed miscreants attacked the elderly woman with sharp weapons. They tied her up and escaped with the cash and gold kept in the house.

Reaching home, the woman’s son and daughter-in-law discovered her in an unconscious state and she was bleeding profusely because of the injuries. She has been admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.

Police have started an investigation to track down the dacoits.
