Arrested Doctor’s Mother Conned of Rs 17 Lakh by Neighbour in Cuttack

Cuttack: Yashoda Das, the mother of an arrested doctor was allegedly conned of Rs 17 lakh by a neighbour who promised to save her son from the police case.

According to reports, the deceived woman happens to be the mother of Dr Punyashlok Mishra, who along with his wife was arrested by Cuttack Police on charges of conducting illegal sex determination tests.

The accused, who is alleged to have duped the mother of the arrested doctor has been identified as Sambit Samal, a neighbour of the complainant.

Yashoda alleged that Sambit Samal promised her to dismiss the police case against her son for Rs 20 lakh and she reportedly gave Rs 17 lakh to Samal.

When the police forwarded the doctor and his wife to the court, Yashoda demanded Samal return the money. But Samal refused to return the money and allegedly misbehaved with her.

Having no other way out, Yashoda registered a complaint at Mangalabag Police Station against Samal. Police are investigating the matter.
