Arvind Kejriwal’s ED Custody Extended Till April 1

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody was extended by the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi on Thursday for four more days until April 1. The ED had requested a seven-day extension for further interrogation.

The ED sought the extension to confront Kejriwal with additional individuals, according to reports from ANI. Kejriwal had previously been placed in ED custody for seven days starting from March 22.

Represented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, the ED informed the court that Kejriwal had provided evasive responses during questioning and had not cooperated deliberately. Raju also stated that Kejriwal hadn’t disclosed any passwords during his custody, denying access to digital data.

Kejriwal addressed the court, emphasizing that while he had been arrested, no court had proven him guilty yet. He questioned the basis of his arrest, highlighting that his involvement was based on statements from only four individuals.

Meanwhile, the ED emphasized the importance of accessing digital data, indicating its relevance to the investigation. They argued that as the AAP convenor, Kejriwal’s financial activities, including expenditures on AAP campaigns in Goa, warranted scrutiny.

Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, representing Kejriwal, opposed the ED’s plea for remand extension.
