ASO Recruitment Process Stayed by Orissa High Court, Next Hearing on Sept 21

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday put a stay on the selection procedure for the recruitment of ASOs by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) till its next hearing on September 21.

On July 31, the Orissa High Court rejected the review and writ petitions filed in connection with the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) recruitment examination conducted by the OPSC.

The court upheld its past order regarding the publication of a fresh merit list.

In May, the merit list published by the OPSC for the recruitment examination conducted for the 796 Assistant Section Officer posts was scraped by the High Court with an order to publish a fresh merit list within two months.

OPSC conducted the ASO recruitment test on August 27, 2022. Nearly four lakh candidates appeared for the recruitment exam.

The Merit list was released on November 7, 2022. However, it was withheld due to allegations of irregularities in the examination.

While hearing petitions regarding irregularities in the examination, the court ordered the publication of a fresh merit list on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the written examination, within two months.
