At 97, Kerala Lawyer Sets World Record for Longest Stint in Legal Profession

Thiruvananthapuram: P Balasubramanian Menon, a 97-year-old senior advocate of northern Palakkad district in Kerala

has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-serving lawyer. His long career as a lawyer spans 73 years and 60 days.

“The longest career as a lawyer (male) is 73 years and 60 days, and was achieved by Menon P Balasubramanian (India) as verified in Kerala, India, on 11 September 2023,” stated the Guinness Book of World Records.

He completed his legal studies at the Madras Law College to start his legal career in the early 1950s. “I will continue my practice till my health permits and until my parties want me to…,” says Menon.
