At Least a Dozen Shot Dead During Christmas Party in Mexico

At least 12 people were shot dead during a Christmas party in Salvatierra of Guanajuato state in Mexico on Sunday.

The shootout occurred during a Christmas posada, a traditional Mexican celebration.

A group of armed assailants gate crashed and fired indiscriminately at posada participants, who were mostly youngsters. According to Xinhua news agency, 12 persons died and 10 others were injured.

In recent years, violence has increased in Mexico because of disputes between criminal groups seeking control of different areas.
